Q1. What is Nano Student of the Year competition all about?
The Nano Student of the Year competition is looking out for the most well rounded students in the country. So simply being good at your studies won’t help you win top prize! You need to be socially aware, have a talent or two and be a little sporty. The competition’s top 3 winners stand to win great prizes.
Q2. How can I register?
You can register by filling in your personal details on the registration page and completing all 4 sections - Academics, Sports, Social Awareness & Talent, with relevant information and proof. The form cannot be edited and must be filled in one go.
Q3. What proof do I need to submit?
You need to send in scanned copies of your mark sheets and sports/talent/volunteer work certificates, for all the activities you’ve participated in and mentioned against your registration form, to submissions@nanostudentoftheyear.com by 11:59pm on September 25th, 2012 for your entry to be considered valid.
Q4. What are the eligibility criterias?
You need to be an Indian citizen, at least 18 years of age and currently enrolled as a full time student in college. NRI students & students enrolled in part time courses cannot participate in the competition.

Q6. How do I score Nanomarks?
Your score i.e., Nanomarks is calculated based on the details you provide in the 4 sections of the registration form - Academics, Talent, Sports and Social Awareness. The Top 8 contestants, based on these Nanomarks make it to the final round of competition.
Q7. What do I have to do if I'm in the Top 8?
Once in the Top 8, you will be given a list of activities (on the website) which you need to complete within a given time period. These activities may include uploading pictures and/or video content on to our website. You need to get as many votes as you can for each of these activities, so remember to use all your social clout and spread the word. Get your family, friends and classmates to vote for you!
Q8. How do I check where I stand amongst the Top 8?
You can check where you stand amongst the Top 8, by visiting the Leaderboard. This will be updated in real-time and will give you an accurate depiction of where you stand in comparison to the other contestants. A little tip from us, you want to be in the Top 3 positions!
Q9. How and when is the winner of Nano Student of the Year announced?
At the end of the voting period, the contestant with the most votes totaled across all activities will be crowned the Nano Student of the Year. This will be announced on the website, on October 15th, 2012.
Q10. What are the prizes?
1st prize (the Grand Prize) is a Rs. 3 lakh educational scholarship from Tata Motors, that can only be used for higher education at an Indian institution.
2nd prize (Bumper Prize) is a swanky new Tata Nano car.
3rd prize (Mega Prize) is a state-of-the-art Apple Macbook laptop.

PLEASE READ THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE REGISTERING FOR NANO STUDENT OF THE YEAR “CONTEST”. PARTICIPATION IN CONTEST INDICATES THAT YOU ACCEPT THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS. IF YOU DO NOT ACCEPT THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS, PLEASE DO NOT REGISTER FOR OR PARTICIPATE IN THIS CONTEST.
This agreement ("Agreement") is between the participating individual (“The Contestant”) and Tata Motors Ltd. (TML) hereinafter referred to as “TML” or “sponsors”. The following Terms and Conditions ("Terms and Conditions") shall be applicable for participating in the contest. The details of the contest Nano Student of the Year (“NSOTY”) is available on www.nanostudentoftheyear.com.
Contest
- The “NSOTY” contest is open to all Indian residents of age 18 years and above. The contest shall be open from 13th September, 2012 to 17th October, 2012, 00:00 hours. Participants can register for the online contest from 10th September to 28th September, 2012.
- competition is open only for applicants who are pursuing any course of studies [Proffesional (Engg, MMBS, Law), Degree Course (Arts, Commerce, Science) & PG courses]
- Contestants must be currently enrolled for a full time degree course with a recognized University. Students perusing (a) Part Time course in any form OR (b) any Distant Learning course and (c) NRI Students are not entitled to participate in the contest.
- Contestant needs to register online www.nanostudentoftheyear.com with correct and complete details. Duplicate entries or incorrect details provided by the contestants are liable to be disqualified without any notice to the contestant.
- The contest shall be completed in four stages i.e.
- Stage I - Registration from 13th September to 28th September, 2012.
Stage II - Selection of 8 contestants out of total number of contestants from 28th September to 30th September, 2012.
Stage III - Selection of 3 final contestants out of the 8 contestants on 17th October, 2012.
Stage IV – Declaration of the 3 final contestants on 17th October, 2012. - The details of successfully registered contestant will be scrutinized by ___Rediffusion DYR(agency’s Name), based on the overall Nano mark scored by each contestant on the basis of calculation derived from the information provided by the contestants at the time of registration. TML shall declare on the website and will also make a press release (only on the website) of the names of the names of 8 contestants qualifying for the next stage of the contest. The qualified 8 contestants will be briefed by Rediffusion DYR _ (agency) on 29th & 30th September, 2012 regarding the further actions to be taken by the contestants. Accordingly the contestants will take steps and complete the formalities as advised by the _ Rediffusion DYR (agency) till 15th October, 2012. The contestants will start garnering votes from 1st October to 13th October, 2012 which would be one of the criterion to be selected as Top 3 Final Winners of the contest. The 8 contestants shall be evaluated by a jury / award / prize selection team comprising of TML, Rediffusion DYR and Dharma Productions.
- TML shall declare on the website of the names of the 3 Final Winners of the contest.
- If a tie occurs in the marks at any stage, Judge+ Tata Motors +Dharma Productions decision will be considered as final.
- By submitting the registration form, the contestant agrees to these terms and conditions and further agrees to upload the scan copies of requisite documents in support of the entries made by the contestants at the time of online registration [along with an official letter of endorsement from Principal of the College duly verifying the contestant’s details / status of educational qualification. (only for the top 8 students)] Short listed candidates from the Ist stage will have to produce the originals before entering into the II nd stage of the contest i.e. on or before _1st October_____, failing which the contestant would be liable to be eliminated from the contest.
Contestant’s Submissions
- Contestant hereby assigns all rights to the sponsors including Publishing, Intellectual Rights in respect of the contents (music / lyrics / composition/video footage) hereinafter referred to as the “content” required to be submitted for the contest or has been shared during the different stages of the contest on the website www.nanostudentoftheyear.com. Sponsors will have exclusive, irrevocable, perpetual, royalty-free, unconditional rights to publish and use all audio and video links (including still pictures) that the contestant submits as a part of the contest.
- Contestant warrants that the contents submitted by the contestants shall not contain matter that, as determined by the TML and / or Rediffusion DYR __ (agency), in its sole discretion: is derogatory of any ethnic, racial, gender, religious, professional or age group; profane or pornographic; promotes alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco, firearms/weapons; promotes any activities that may appear unsafe or dangerous; is obscene or offensive; endorses any form of hate or hate group; contains copyrighted or copyright protected materials where the copyright is owned by others (including photographs, sculptures, paintings, and other works of art or images published on or in websites, television, movies, music, or other media), or contains any other content that is or could be considered inappropriate, unsuitable, or offensive, all as determined by TML and / or Rediffusion DYR (agency) in its sole discretion; and/or violates any law, unlawful, plagiarized, infringes third-party Intellectual Property Rights, unintelligible, illegible, obscene, indecent or incomplete entries will be disqualified in TML’s sole discretion.
- Contestant also warrants that the submitted content has been composed by the Contestant in particular and no part of the content has been taken from any other composition and no other artiste / musicians intellectual / publishing rights have been infringed upon by the contestant.
- Contestant undertakes to indemnify the TML in case of any legal action / suit arising from any or all acts of infringement by the contestant of any Copyright & Intellectual Property Rights of any other musician / composer whose rights our track OR composition might have infringed upon.
- Contestant acknowledges and understands that there will be no monetary obligations on the part of TML to compensate the contestant for the usage of the content that the contestant has submitted and shall have no claim whatsoever (whether financial or otherwise) on TML for all the aforementioned use of any content submitted by the contestant.
- TML is not responsible for any entries that are late, lost, stolen, misdirected or non-deliverable due to any reason whatsoever, including, without limitation, online communication malfunction or failure, computer or computer program malfunction or failure or human error that may occur in the processing of entries to this contest.
Prizes –
- The 1st prize for the Nano Student of the Year is sponsored college tuition fees of upto Rs.3 Lacs. The amount will be given by TML directly to the institution, after verification of the details as submitted by the contestant. The winner of 1st prize will receive the sponsored prize money in the following manner –
- If the 1st prize winner is currently in their 1st year he/she will receive tuition fees for their 1st year + 2nd year + 3 year. Tuition fees will be given to the institution directly. Original Receipts’ to be produced
- If the 1st prize winner is currently in their 2nd year, he/she will receive tuition fees for their 2nd year + 3 year which shall be given to the institution directly. Tuition fees for the 1st year will be reimbursed to the student. Original Receipts’ to be produced.
- If the 1st prize winner is currently in their 3rd year, he/she will receive tuition fees for their 3 year which shall be given to the institution directly. Tuition fees for the 1st year and 2nd year, will be reimbursed to the student. Original Receipts’ to be produced.
If the 1st prize winner is currently enrolled in a professional course longer or
shorter than a duration 3 years, then the sponsored prize money will be paid
as fees for the current year & the year following, directly to the institution.

- The 2nd prize will be a Tata Nano Car to be provided to the 2nd prize winner in the city which he/she is from. (Note: Gift Tax / VAT / other applicable taxes will be borne by the winner themselves).
- The 3rd Prize will be an Apple Macbook laptop. (Note: Gift Tax / VAT / other applicable taxes will be borne by the winner themselves)
- The prizes shall be subject to any tax or any statutory levy of State and Central as applicable. Any deductions as applicable under the provisions of law will be made by TML.
- No cash substitution of the prizes is permitted and prizes are non-refundable and non-transferable.
- Warranty and service support on the prizes sourced by TML from other manufacturer will be that of respective manufacturer. TML would not be responsible for the same.
- The liability of registration and insurance of Tata Nano including the payment of registration and insurance charges, if any, shall be sole responsibility of the winning contestant.
- The photo copy of PAN card/photo ID/Driving license/Adhar Card/Birth Certificate/Voter ID copy and address proof of the 3 winner contestants should reach Tata Motor’s PCBU Office on 20th Floor, Tower 2, One India Bulls Centre, 841 Senapati Bapat Marg, Mumbai – 400 013 within _15__ days of the declaration of the winner. On receipt of all the original documents the 3 winner contestants will be eligible to receive the prize.
- TML reserves right to change, curtail or discontinue the contest or the terms and conditions of the contest without any prior notice to the contestants. The decision of TML is final in all respects and shall be binding on all the contestants and no correspondence what so ever will be entertained in this regard. All disputes shall be subject to Mumbai Jurisdiction.
Confirmation by Contestant
- The Contestant warrants that they are of sound mind, of requisite legal age, have clearly understood that the contest details and that the contestants would be judged on their the basis of academics, talents, involvement in sports, social responsibility, originality and creativity by participating in this contest. The contestant further agrees that the contestant does not involve a matter of chance and or gambling and does not call for any entry fee being charged by TML from the contestants. The contestants agree to all the aforesaid Terms and Conditions of their free will and there is no compulsion or coercion or undue influence exerted upon the contestant to participate in the contest or agree the terms and conditions as mentioned herein above.
sir actually i m registering for nano tata student of the year but in Academic enng mean B.E or B.TECH(only b.sc, b.ed, n law etc) option is not there so how can i register m b.tech final year student......c
